Jackson Hole Farriers is built on the belief that every horse deserves the same level of attention whether it's a client's first horse or a seasoned performance animal with a complicated history. Nathan Brown founded this practice on that standard in 2015, and it's the same standard Jesse Leavitt carries into Star Valley today. Between the two of them, the Jackson Hole and Star Valley areas now have consistent, reliable farrier care from horsemen who actually know what they're doing.
Meet Nathan - Lead Farrier
Nathan Brown has been shoeing horses since 2005. He came up the right way starting as an apprentice under some of the best farriers in the country, working alongside them long enough to understand not just the mechanics of the craft but the judgment that separates good shoeing from great shoeing. He moved to Jackson, Wyoming in 2015 to build his own clientele, and in the years since has earned a reputation as one of the most reliable and skilled farriers in the region.
Nathan is a horseman first and a farrier second. He competed in college and professional rodeo across multiple events, trains ranch horses, packs into the backcountry, and hauls horses for clients throughout Wyoming. In the off season he builds saddles and custom leather goods by hand. That background matters - when Nathan looks at a horse, he's not just evaluating its feet. He's thinking about how the animal moves, how it's used, and what it needs to keep doing its job soundly.
He maintains a select group of horses on a consistent long-term schedule, which is how he prefers to work. Getting to know a horse over months and years - watching how its feet change with the seasons, understanding what makes it comfortable and what doesn't, is what allows Nathan to provide the kind of care that actually makes a difference.
Meet Jesse - Farrier, Star Valley
Jesse Leavitt was born and raised in Afton, Wyoming — Star Valley through and through. He graduated from Pacific Coast Horseshoeing School in the spring of 2024 and has spent the time since apprenticing directly under Nathan, learning the craft the same way Nathan did: hands-on, horse by horse, day by day.
Jesse is now building his own clientele in Star Valley and the surrounding areas, bringing the same standards he learned from Nathan to horse owners closer to home. For clients in Afton, Star Valley, and the communities in between, Jesse is the name to know. He's local, he's skilled, and he's backed by nearly two decades of Nathan's experience.
